Gary Fisher Wingra
My new commuter bike, a Gary Fisher Wingra:
I cycle over 20K per day to and from work. I figure it was time to semi-retire my 20+ year old Fiori Excela and also change to a more rugged bike for day-to-day use on the city streets. (Not that London's bike paths are the smoothest in spots!)

Update: After a few weeks I have put over 400km on this bike, and aside from a minor tune-up needed after its shake out rides, I'm liking it!

Greetings, Richard!
I bought a Wingra in early June, and ride about 10 miles (16km) a day to and from work, plus errands and other riding just for fun. I just wanted to say, I agree with you. It's a great bike. Light, nimble, and speedy. I'm in Billings, Montana in the U.S. so I'm not sure how much I will be able to ride in winter, but I'm enjoying it for now. Happy cycling.
For sure I won't be riding the Wingra in the winter due to the salt and sand. The snow by itself wouldn't be too bad. I'll switch to my rusty mountain bike once I repair the shifter and chain from last season.
I just bought a wingra last week, and it isvery wintry here right now. I live in Chicago and today it was -4 derees Farenheit! There is salt all over the roads but I tok the bike out for ride anyway. It is a great bike!
I am able to occasionally take the Wingra when there's been no snow and the roads are dry. I put Innova studded tires on my winter bike and have been keeping safe that way.
I absolutely adore my Wingra, nimble as hell and damn quick. I do a similar 20K commute in LA (used to be a London commuter too). My only upgrades have been some nice bar ends (makes the cruiser bit of the ride more pleasurable) and some fantastic Azonic Accelerator pedals. Nice and light and take a real beating. Hope your still enjoying the ride!
I sure am still enjoying my ride - I added fenders, changed to larger tires in the winter (now back to normal) and replaced brakes, and I'm nearing 7000km. I have also purchased a replacement set of pedals after wearing out the cheap set I purchased, but I haven't installed them yet.
I just picked up an '07 Wingra off of Craigslist. I'm here in LA, CA. Took it for my first 25 mile ride last weekend down the coastal bike path. So far, so good. Its a comfy ride & has some pickup. I'm gonna log a lotta miles on it. Its all stock, but I've been keeping my ear out for useful upgrade tips.
